| Jumping the broom is a popular African-American wedding tradition that symbolizes the sweeping away of the old and the welcoming of the new.
The tradition dates back to the period of slavery during which slaves were not allowed to marry so they jumped the broom as a way of ceremonially uniting.
This beautiful Decorative Wedding Broom (32 inch) is made from dried pine (also available in natural straw) and adorned with artificial calla lilies, coordinating ivory and gold accented ribbon, ivy, and the handle is wrapped in satin with pearl and cowry shells embellishments.
